Late for School

Okay, I know all the kids went back to school a few weeks ago, but since I'm just starting to blog I have to post about our experience! This year my oldest son started Pre-K and I felt like it was my first day of school, too! We were all so excited for him to start a new adventure with new friends and experience the classroom.

As an at-home Mom I've set our schedule. Being presentable at 7:30 has consisted of yoga pants and, if I'm lucky, not having my hair in a ponytail. So, now not only do I want my baby to feel and look his best on a school morning, I had to get my @s$ in gear! Make his lunch (a 'you can do it!' note included), get a teeny-tiny backpack packed, brush teeth, comb hair and out the door by 7:45 - whew! I have even more respect for Mom's who have had this routine since maternity leave ended - getting baby ready, getting office ready, fighting traffic and being on time! Go girls! It's no walk in the park (or playground).

So off we went - baby brother in tow saying how much he'd miss his 'Bruddy' (a term these two love bugs call each other - a mash-up of brother and buddy). My son walked in to his class, started playing with kids he had never met, looked up and flashed me a huge smile and said 'Bye Mama, have a great day!'. I wasn't even tear-y, just proud of the little person he's becoming - independent, curious, friendly and eager to learn. Awesome Mommy moment!

Little bro and I spent great Mama-and-me time at breakfast and playing mini golf (I wanted this day to be special for him, too) and we both looked forward to picking up big brother that afternoon. I'm so excited for all the kids going back to school. I love feeling the anticipation of the new school year and what it will bring. So many memories to be made and cherished! Happy school year to all of you (maybe 3 of you reading this - fingers crossed!) and your kiddies. I hope it's a great year of learning and growing!

Oh - and I've been taking a picture every morning of my son as he goes off to school. I'm hoping I can stick with this and make a slide show in June to see how he's changed. Wouldn't that be cool to see your child grow?!
